Kínában 1922-től 1947-ig létezett jezsuita misszió Támingban, Hopej tartományban, a Sárga folyó vidékén. A naplót író magyar szerzetes 1934-ben érkezett a kínai városba, de csak az utolsó két év drámai eseményeit örökítette meg, amikor a központi kormányzattal szembe helyezkedő egyetemista csoport, a "szellemírtó gárda" megjelent a misszió területén és megszervezte a néptörvényeket. Megkezdődött a szerzetesek és híveik üldözése, megkínzása és elkergetése... A napló nem csupán értékes dokumentum, de mint a "kulturális" forradalom előképe, döbbenetes olvasmány is.
ENG: In China, from 1922 to 1947, there was a Jesuit mission in Taming, Hopej Province, in the Yellow River region. The Hungarian monk who wrote the diary arrived in the Chinese city in 1934, but only recorded the dramatic events of the last two years, when a group of university students opposed to the central government, the "Ghost Killing Guards", appeared in the mission area and organised the People's Laws. The persecution, torture and expulsion of the monks and their followers began... The diary is not only a valuable document but, as a forerunner of the "Cultural" Revolution, it also makes shocking reading.
